Magpie, Pica pica
The Eurasian Magpie used to be thought conspecific with the North American
Black-billed Magpie (Pica hudsonia). But DNA studies showed the Black-billed
to be more closely related to the Yellow-billed Magpie than to the almost identical
looking magpie of the old world.
